Name:Lennie IrvinEmail:lirvin@alamo.eduBooking submitted:10:54am, Sep 07 2017Course Name & Number (ie, Geography 1301)::ENGL1301.171  What will your students be researching? How will they be using the sources they find?:Students will be doing an inquiry project over a subject of personal interest they select from their reading of the book The Case Against Sugar. They will be writing a research essay from their sources.  Check all that apply. "Before their library class students will...":be introduced to the assignment., select general areas of research or specific research topics.  Notes (different start/end time, requests, etc.)::This session, at least in the presentation, should focus on the overall research process and the earlier stages of refining a topic, and search strategies. I think you can have information available on evaluating sources, but I will have a session in my classroom the next day on evaluating sources, so this session does not need to go in depth about evaluating sources. Time to research and explore is great. Students may also be going to some non-traditional sources for information like personal interviews, so how to access and search for research source outside of just the library might be helpful too. I have another section face-to-face and online that is doing this research project as well, and I am setting up library instruction for them as well.
