Empowering Student Success: Student-Centered Teaching with Ascender
Session Description: In this session, faculty will be introduced to the Ascender program’s holistic approach to supporting student success. Participants will explore strategies for creating inclusive learning environments, fostering a sense of belonging, and integrating academic and personal support practices that help students persist and thrive. Faculty will leave with practical tools to strengthen relationships, improve retention, and promote meaningful engagement in the classroom.
Learning Outcomes: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
1. Describe the mission and core principles of the Ascender program and its role in advancing student success.
2. Identify student-centered teaching practices that promote connection, engagement, and persistence.
3. Integrate academic and wraparound support strategies into instruction to help address barriers to learning.
This is not a required course. Participation is voluntary and optional.
