This is not a required course. Participation is voluntary and optional.
Veterans and other military connected students comprise a sizable portion of our student population. This session will explore the challenges these students face while transitioning into the college environment, experiences veterans have shared in the classroom, and participants will gain insights into best pedagogical practices for serving their military students.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify common transition challenges faced by veterans and military-connected students in the college environment.
- Describe classroom experiences shared by student veterans that impact their engagement, learning, and sense of belonging.
- Apply at least two evidence-informed teaching practices that support the academic success of veterans and military-connected learners.
