Name:Yon Hui BellEmail:ybell@alamo.eduBooking submitted:01:33pm, Oct 05 2018Course Name & Number (ie, Geography 1301)::ENGL 1301.698  What general area of research or topics will your students be exploring?:Students will have self-selected a socially relevant topic. For example, students will be able to select topics such as the division of labor at home, the pink tax, chemicals in makeup, police brutality, racial profiling, for-profit prisons, liberal arts education, the effects of standardized testing on learning, student debt, charter schools, banning bottled water on college campuses, etc.  What will your students do or create with the sources they find?:Students will be working on a 12 page zine.  On the day students attend the library class, **at what point will they be** in their research process?:general area of research identified; they will need help narrowing and defining a specific research topic  Notes (different start/end time, requests, etc.)::This is an ENGL 1301 with a one-hour INRW co-requisite. I will have already conferenced with students about their topics. They have already completed one essay with documentation. I would like them to be introduced to the academic databases and learn how to use them. I would also like to reinforce the difference between academic research and general research. I can share a copy of the zine project the students will be working on. Thank you!
