What general area of research or topics will your students be exploring?: Students need to research a specific author and short story. They also need background on the writer's work. In addition, depending upon the story they choose, they may need to do some research outside the story itself. For example, if one character in the story is a killer, mass killer, or serial killer, the student will need to research personality traits of such people.
What will your students do or create with the sources they find?: Students will be doing a character analysis essay which includes biography on the author, a brief overview of the author's work, a plot summary of the short story, and an extended analysis of a character or characters in the story.
On the day students attend the library class, **at what point will they be** in their research process?: specific research topic defined; they will need help evaluating evidence to address specific ideas or questions
